Hi Ian, On the English language Apple wireless keyboard, the character on the question mark key is "slash", not "backslash". The "backslash" character is the rightmost key that is below the "delete" key and above the "return" key. The actual sort key combination is announced as Control+Option+"vertical line", but on an English language keyboard the "vertical line" character is typed as shift+backslash. On other input language keyboards, the sort key character is typed with a different key combination, and it may be necessary to use VoiceOver help (VO+h+h) to find the correct shortcut for sorting, by looking under "Tables" (e.g., VO+h+h, press "t", then quickly type "s o" to find the "sort" key combination). You're getting the "online help" because you're pressing the question mark key, and VoiceOver is interpreting this as Control+Option+question.
You don't need to move your mouse to the column header in order to sort tables with VoiceOver -- you simply move to the column and press VO-Shift-backslash. But the sort command only works if you have interacted with the table. If you tab to a table VoiceOver will automatically interact with it. Then all you need to do is navigate to the column that you want to sort and use VO-Shift-backslash to sort the column, and this is also true in tables such as the Finder list view (Command+2) where I might want to sort my files according to the date modified by moving to that column. The first VO-Shift-backslash sorts the table by date modified, instead of name. The second VO-Shift-backslash reverses the sort order. If I move to a name column, and sort I sort by name. I'm still running iTunes 10, but this should work for you. Cheers, Esther On Aug 1, 2013, at 1:45 AM, Ian Harrison wrote: > Hi, > > thanks, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.
