Have a a look at the JBL Onbeat Air, its one of those docking stations that has 
a rotating dock that can rotate 180 degrees.

Normally the microphone isn't smothered because its to one side of the dock 
connector but I take your point, if the phone is in a horizontal position then 
its most likely that the microphone will be exposed to more sound.
