Linda, I think you can do this a lot easier than you describe below. You don’t need to manually add music to the folder, it will be automatically copied there by iTunes and sorted properly. If your music is, say, on an external drive, you can go to the File->Add to Library menu item in iTunes, and find the folder where your music is kept.
