Hi All,

If there are any list members who have been thinking of using Voice Dream
Reader for their iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, this app is on sale now for half
price ($4.99 instead of $9.99). This app is great for reading a wide range of
document formats and eBook content (only DRM-free eBooks, though -- won't
generally work for iBooks or Kindle eBook contents), and DAISY books, including
in audio format. If you have a Bookshare account, you can log in and download
books directly from the app. You can have the selected voice and reading speed
remembered along with your place on a per book basis. You have the option of
purchasing additional voices for use in the app for $1.99-$2.99 each. These
are the Acapela voices, but there are also some very good NeoSpeech voices. In
iOS 7 you have the option of using the built-in voices.

There's also a free lite version of Voice Dream Reader that you can use to try
out the app (though I prefer to purchase the full version of apps instead of
adding features by in-app purchase -- it's less confusing if download the app
again or use it on another iOS device, because your usage will not be limited
until you remember to do a restore of in-app purchases.). The free version
will only read 300 characters at a time for each press of the "Play" button,
but is otherwise fully functional.

Here are the app store URLs:
• Voice Dream Reader - Text to Speech (on sale for $4.99, usually$9.99) by
Voice Dream LLC

• Voice Dream Reader Lite - Text to Speech (free) by Voice Dream LLC

I'll point you to a link to a recent review post. Use the Safari reader option
(Command-Shift-R on a Mac):
• Voice Dream Reader, Truly a Dream App

For those of you who have BookShare's Read2Go app ($20), this app still has a
better interface for Braille users. But you are restricted to using the U.S.
English voices that come with this app, so you don't have options to use a
voice with a different language or regional accent. You also can't read
Microsoft Office or Pages documents, plain text, HTML, ePub, etc.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
