Hello Eleanor, On my Mac running OS 10.9.2 I am able to activate the Zoom hotkeys by going to System Preferences / Accessibility / Zoom. That same preference pane lists the available hotkeys for toggling Zoom and for zooming in and out. Are these hotkeys not working on your system?
