Ah Ok. I personally do not use one. as I don't need one. If you had a router and felt comfortable using it as a network storage device, NAS, then you could go that route. Otherwise you could just get a 2tb drive for probably under $100 and do your time machine back ups that way.
I know you will get other opinions on the list about what to use, but as for me since I am the only mac user at home, this is all I need, I have a cheap 1tb drive for my time machine back ups that will hopefully soon be replaced with a 2 or 4 tb elements drive by WD.
