Actually try this.

1. launch amadeus.

2. select the part of your file you want to create yoru ring tone with.

3. hit cmd shift c to copy to a new file

4. make any necessary edits.

5. export as m4a

6. rename the file to have the extension m4r.

7. import it to your library.

8. synch your phone nd make sure that new ring tones is checked under tones.
