I think it is all a lot simpler than that on the Mac compared to Windows If I want to make a list of all files in a Finder window I simply press command A to select them all, then command C to copy. I then open TextEdit. I the in a blank document go to the format menu and select make plai text. I find then that thy pressing command V for paste a text listing of the files in the finder window is then created.
