It's not creating a new account, you have to go there to add the account you
just deleted.  So yes it says add new, but you are basically putting the
same information back for the account you deleted by mistake.  Hope that
makes since.

Thank you for your reply.  I don't want to create a new account, I wish to
try and recover an account that I have deleted from Mail.  Trying to avoid
filling in all the details for the email address again <smiles>.

Yes, just go back to system preferences, go to the accounts tab, and add an
account.  Or you can go to the main system preferences of your mac, and add
it in internet accounts.
