I have not actually done this completely but I believe the following will work
in VLC.
This all assumes vLC has ben set as your default MP3 player.
1. Go to the first tracks you want to add to your playlist in finder. Select
each track and press command down arrow to open them.
2. VLC will open the first track and start playing it. Press space to pause the
 playing.
3. Keep VLC open and command tab back to finder to identify the next tracks you
want to add to your playlist Again select these tracks and press command
downarrow to open them in VLC.
4Again press space to pause playing You should now have a temporary playlist
with all the selected files you have added., both in step 1 and 3. Keep on
command tabbing away from VLC to finder to find other files you want to add to
your playlist. VLC will always start playing the latest files you add but the
earlier elections should still be in the temporary playlist. They will stay
there until VLC is closed..
 5. Finally when you have added all the files you want to your playlist press
command S to bring up the save menu and give a name for your playlist and
choose a location for your playlists. I have a finder folder called playlists.
VLC will remember the last folder you saved to so it convenient to create such
a folder for quick saving of playlists.

As the Mac Access Dot Net administrators, we always strive to ensure that the
Mac-Access E-Mal list remains malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and worm-free.
However, this should in no way replace your own security strategy. We assume
neither liability nor responsibility should something unpredictable happen.
