Adrian,

It really depends on the app. Most 95% of the time, all that you need to do is find it in your applications directory through your finder, then press command+delete on it. This should move it to the trash.

Beware that this may or may not totally remove it. It depends on if there are preference files left behind.

I personally recommend that you go to google, and do a search for an app called "App Trap." I've found that it does the work of removing all those preferences files, if you want to do that as well. Otherwise, it's kind of hit and miss.
