Spoken like a true Canadian who's never lived and worked in the US for
any length of time. If I could get paid what I was paid in USD I would
gladly go to private health care and 10% Income Tax. I earned 5,000 USD
per month, my private healthcare for my family of 3 cost $260. That's a
preferred provider plan, full dental, eye surgery, and prescription
drugs. That is nowhere near what I paid in taxes on just $2500 CAN per
month, with no eyecare, partial dental coverage for only the kids and
2-4 hr emergency room waits.
The tax bracket I was in at 60k USD was the same as canadians below the
poverty line. The tax bracke here in at 30k CAn was the one I would have
been in at 90k USD. The bullet proof vest is something I will never
argue with, one of the few things that truly make me proud to be
Canadian, but for the pay, standard of living and excellent charter
school my children could attend I would go back in a New York minute
(just never to NYC of LA).
