Bought one of the first macs and did my first public proposal with it as
a private citizen. That stupid New York font blew their socks off; no
one had seen anything like it even though it was printed on an
Imagewriter I. (The equivilent of dropping coconuts from a pterodactyl.)
(Couldn;t believe that word was in spell check--see what I mean.)
Had the flu and while working in bed and almost pulled the mac off the
nightstand with that dumb short cord. In irritation, tried a long
telephone cord--it didn't work--aaargh, good god, did I destroy a $2000 machine?
Worked fine again with the original cord. Pursued the why and offered
keyboard extension cords for the mac at 9.95 each postage paid. (A
bargain back then.) Got in the first mac bible.
Now, a recovering bureaucrat and a lot of proposals and projects later,
still use the mac, hate the windoze, and am pleased to find all these
groups under the Dan Knight umbrella.
And now that I'm here, started an initative to keep the dial tone on
telephones even if their disconnected so people can always call for
help. Costs the phone company zip. It's law in Vermont where my son went
to college and pushed it for me. Hope to do the same in Canada and help
keep all my new neighbors safe and alive.

I would appreciate your thoughts, comments, and support. The campaign
continues, still using my macs to keep biting the complacent bureaucrats
in their collective butts if they need it.
