Let's all remember. Will is an adolescent. Easily bored and preoccupied
with the pains of getting older in ways he doesn't/can't choose. The
iPod thread was not the pinnacle of insight, humour or exciting
disclosures. It was simply long, drawn out stuff perpetuated by some
people who were interested. Will's not forced to read, but perhaps he
did--in any case he apparently reads--and that's unusual these days..

I suspect his momentary boredom did not carve a deep hole in his psyche,
but was just another teen-age encounter with something he'd rather not
do. Whoever of us didn't go through the wanderings of coming of age is
entitled to mutter; those of us who did, should just let the kid wallow.

Hey, they're only words on a page. And maybe he just wants to be Thoreau
without the need of an extension cord.

Makes sense to me.
