Ahh... How refreshing! An actual post about Macs, and not the people who use them. Thank you, Dale!
I use a Supermac graphics card on my 8100 (with a Sonnet G3/266 card, BTW). I forget what type of Supermac card it is, as that computer is now upstairs and I rarely use it (I now work on a G4). With that card, there's a way to change resolutions at start-up: After you hear the start-up chime, press and hold the command and option keys only. After a few seconds, the screen should go black and display a very remedial graphic of a computer keyboard and the words "press spacebar to continue" (or similar wording). Now release the command and option keys. The graphics card will rotate through numerous resolutions for many different, some long extinct, monitors. Sometimes, the monitor will go all black as you hear the monitor 'click out" when the card tries out a resolution that does not match your monitor in any way. Fear not, as it will cycle onwards to others that will match. I don't know how many it goes through, but it will repeat the entire cycle until you actually hit the spacebar. So, let it rotate through the choices until you see one that works for you, then quickly hit that spacebar. Your Mac will then continue launching at that point. These nubus graphics cards are really antiquated, and may not run properly even with Mac OS 8.1. My card does run fine with Mac OS 9.2.1, but it's control panels and so forth don't (the above routine worked, though). That's no problem with my SuperMac card that is currently running upstairs, but I also have a Radius Videovision capture card (the old pro set-up with S-VHS, composite and stereo ins and outs) whose control panels etc. cannot run on anything newer than 7.6.1. Hope this helps, but remember that your mileage may vary! GG On 11/2/01 7:15 PM, "Dale Connors" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi..
