IIRC, Carlton's book was a bit of a hatchet job -- in many ways, relying on hindsight to pick apart decisions past, rather than analyzing in the context of the situation. YMMV -- I haven't read it in a long time.
Another interesting read (and a cheap book at Smithbooks -- $2.99 clearance) is "On the Firing Line: My 500 days at Apple" by Gil Amelio. Interesting insight into the corporate culture at Apple, but man, can Gil pat himself on the back.
