I take it you are converting .wav files on the fly to AIFF for burning Audio
CD's.

What might be happening is your machine cannot keep up the conversion
process and supplying data to the CD-R at the same time.

Try converting the .wav or .mp3 files beforehand. I used to use SoundApp (if
I recall correctly) for that purpose.
