Lowering the burn speed will probably solve the problem. The 8100 
probably doesn't have a fast enough CPU to do high speeds. And if you 
are trying to copy from an internal CD drive to the burner it will 
almost surely be too slow.

I've found the best way for me, using  a 4x Yamaha burner on a 
7100/80, is to copy data to the hard drive first and then copy it to 
the burner. This works very well for music files at 4x burn speed; 
I've made no coasters since I started doing that.

I don't know what your burner's top speed is but if you set it at 
maximum and then try SIMULATION mode (it goes thru all the motions 
without actually burning) and keep lowering the speed if necessary 
until you get no underruns.

Play around with it; once you get it right it's great fun!
