HUH?!! Who says you can't do all your critical work in OS 9, and then orient
yourself to OS X over MONTHS, if you wanted to? Buy a second machine??
That's a bit extreme and expensive if you want to buy a second machine that
can run OS X JUST to tiptoe into it! The guy can easily dual boot between 9
and X, right now, today.

W.R. Harris, DON'T delete OS X on your drive! Use OS 9 for your work, and
explore and acclimate yourself to OS X. Some time down the line, it'll feel
right to migrate all the way. One thing, though, DON'T use both an OS 9 and
OS X email app for your actually email, nor any other critical data. They
get stored in different areas, and it'll just be a hassle to try and
remember if a certain email was downloaded into an OS 9 or X client.
