Before I got a new laser printer and gave my old Apple printer away
last month, I had it hooked up to my iBook's Ethernet port via an
AsanteTalk Ethernet-LocalTalk adapter
(http://www.asante.com/products/adapters/asantetalk/index.html). That
worked fine with Mac OS 9. I have no idea whether OS X is any
different--the AsanteTalk page doesn't mention OS versions.

P.S. I still have the AsanteTalk adapter, and I'm not using it now,
so if anyone in Toronto wants it for a "used" price, it's
available--contact me offlist.
