Hi Everyone,
I live in Ontario, Speak
French , try to use it, and am
married to a french woman.
French is part of what we are
as a people
I think that these kind of
Issues have no place in a Mac
discussion group.
But... Since we are on the
topic, the money the
government spends on
forcing french on the whole
nation is in my opinion
"wasted". I have lived in
Toronto my entire life, and
all I ever experience when
speaking french to my wife
or a store merchant( who is
french ) , is looks of
discontent.
Xenophobia, is not resolved
by two languages put on a
serial box. It does give the
French part of the population
the ability to function a
little more in their native
culture.
But lets face it , if you are
living in Ontario or any non
french part of Canada, you
will have a tough time getting
by in a French only approach.
I am very sympathetic to
the French cause and I love
the culture, but part of
"who/whatwe are" is a melting
pot of cultures from around
the world. The
aspect of English becoming a
central language around the
world is considered a
problem in many countries. The
anglicizing of countries can
be seen first hand by
anyone traveling around to any
country. People who don't come
from English speaking
countries, rely on English
language to communicate while
abroad. I t has become almost
a common ground for Finance
and tourism, as well as other
industries and diplomatic
institutions.
I do not mean to offend
anyone. I think that this List
is one made up of Intelligent
people
and it bothers me that people
start attacking each other and
attack points of view,
or single out individuals.
The world is a place that
has Jails , Insane asylums,
Churches , Schools, etc...
Racism and opinionated views,
are also " part of what we are
as a people " , so live and
let live.
For me , there is a
philosophy that works well,
Each day I try to be part of
the solution and not
part of the problem.
Which brings me to my point.
You cannot change peoples
minds you can make them aware
of another "view". But this
is the Mac Canada list, and
it should be used to help each
other
with Mac Q&A. Don't let
someone's commentary hijack
the list.
I guess that I am also
guilty of contributing to this
hijack, Oh well!!
To bring matters back on
Topic... I hear a clicks and
pops (no snap or crackle, ha
ha) as
I play DVDs on My TiBook has
anyone else had this problem
and if you have found a fix
would you mind sharing it. It
has never been solved
permanently by apple support.
Cheers
Carlos
