Actually, you only have to pay it to the company if they are incorporated in
your province of residence -- but you are "supposed" to self-assess the
amount when you "import" the item into your province, and pay it to your own
provincial government.

My (albeit limited) understanding of the other scenario is that, if a
company is federally-incorporated, you pay both GST and PST, regardless of
whether they have an office in your province.

I'm a little fuzzy on the second, however. Anyone want to confirm/deny?
