Not sure if we're talking the same place here, either that or it has changed dramatically in the last 2 years. ehMac is a public forum, there are no eBay style auctions per se. Individuals may sell there things to the highest offer, but that is handled very different from auctions.

The story.

I bid on a couple itmes at the Trading Post back when it was first in
operation (c. Nov 99). I forget the details, but on item #1 I noticed
either the initial bid or the reserve price change *after* I'd placed my
opening bid. I complained to the site and was informed that the initial
bid/reserve was a typo (!) and they had simply corrected it. Hmm.
