So now I have a System and a set of applications and a Previous System which also has the default applications. Some are big, like Internet Explorer (23 Mb), but I can't delete them. When I try to do so, a box comes up saying they belong to root.
Hmm, owned by root? Not sure this will help, but maybe give it a try:
