David, and others who may have misread the comment. I went to the meeting to see if somebody could help me understand my then new EMac... The people there suggested I should wholly embrace OSX as it was the greatest thing and would revolutionize the world of Macintosh. I had years and years of Prehistoric Computer experience and two years prior had purchased a 350 Mhz iMac, with OS 8.6. It worked well, until it died due to flyback transformer problems; and of course was wanting to replace it with something similar, and the only close thing was the eMac. The gimbel mounted iMac was there however had my doubts about that gimbel stick mount... As the story may have been told in prior notes on this list, I have/had no love for OSX and removed all traces of same on the Emac, killing the poor beastie. The machine was big, bulky to me after the compact and quiet (fanless) iMac. Eventually sold the eMac at a loss, purchased a G3 iBook, with the combined OS 9.2 and OS10.2 software. All my work is ONLY in OS 9.2! Less than nine months later, the 30 gig hard drive died, it was replaced under warranty. When the drive was installed, I split the drive, into two sectors, one OSX one OS 9. I then removed, once again anything not needed from 9; so games and such gone, no problems. I stay away from OSX; it simply doesn't meet my needs, which are very simple. Just looked at my hard drive; of the 15 gig available 12.5 gig is empty; on the old iMac of the six gigs on the drive, when the machine died I had five gig empty/free... Let's put it this way, for those who have time, money and wishes galore to use a computer for, the Macintosh whatever model used works very well. However there are some of us old pharts who care not for such niceties; and we are those who keep the old Macs and their operating systems alive... If some on the list don't approvie of this, tough... I tend to be awful damn stupid at times, my brain doesn't always connect in just the way the rest of the world thinks it should. So I leave well enough alone and don't try and change things, usually. 1Book G3 OS 9.2.2/10.2 30 GB HD 800 Mhz Bryce Lee Burlington, Ontario Canada eh? -- Mac Canada is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
