I have to admit that it has been a while since I called their 800 number, but, when I ordered my computer it came from the states shipped FedEx. I sent a money transfer from my bank account to some place in Toronto. Within a week I had my computer (after the receiving bank rejected my payment so they could collect another transfer fee). If they are serious about selling a computer to you they will find a way. Let's face it the ipod alone cannot save Apple's assets.

Please explain. I was under the impression that you had to have a US
address to order from the US Apple Store.

And by impression, I mean:

http://www.apple.com/support/store/shop/outsideus.html

Which says the US Apple Store ships only to US addresses and limiting use of
non-US credit cards.

Do what I did, order the unit from the states. It comes from there
anyway. You'll have to do a wire transfer to Apple in Toronto if you
don't have a credit card with a large enough limit.

I'd like to know, too. I should be able to buy a dual 1.8GHz G5 for
$2370 according to exchange rates, but the Canada Store charges $2800.
