I had been considering purchasing Pages/iWork as well however, have not noticed a great deal of feedback on the lists yet. However, there is a fairly healthy discussion going on Pages and Keynote on the Apple discussion forums. Try this link :

I've heard that Pages is ok as a writing app but if you are going to be sharing the documents with others, rather than just printing them, you are going to have trouble as Pages doesn't, and may never, have a large installed base
