Hi Guys

I've caught a bit of this thread and I'd like to ask some simple and basic questions.

This is what I want to do: to link up my computer to my wife's which is about 150ft away in a separate studio. Mine is an eMac, hers a G3 B&W. The link would mainly be for internet but also some occasional printing. The start of the link would probably be at the eMac but it could be the G3. Does it matter?

I'm thinking of an ethernet cable laid underground rather than wireless as the G3 can't use Airport which is more expensive and slower than cable. The internet link would be ADSL from Telus. Now the question is:

WHAT do I need to do all this? Routers and hubs etc are a complete mystery for me tho I'm knowledgeable around Macs but I'm a total newbie when it comes to networking. Could someone explain clearly and simply what's best and cheapest (London Drugs & Future Shop are in Nanaimo close to my island paradise.) I think Telus will supply a free modem if you sign up for a year so I assume it's not worth buying one...or is it?

Anyway thanks in advance for advancing my network education

Paul
