Stuffit .sit and MacBinary .bin files will download fine on a PC as long as you use a normal FTP program (not Netscape or IE or other web browsers) and manually switch them to BINARY mode. Don't use ASCII mode or you'll lose every 8th bit because ASCII is a 7bit per byte format. Yes, this is a "pet peeve" of mine that most internet apps, even on the Mac, default to ASCII/Text/7bit mode for all filetypes they do not automatically recognize. Just download EVERYTHING in binary/8bit mode and it won't (usually) get trashed. :) What will happen to Stuffit files on the PC is they lose the resource fork, but on .sit file that only stores the creator, type and custom icon info. Stuffit Expander is smart enough to actually look at the data and determine what the file is, but you have to manually open them or drag and drop onto Expander. ===== "The earth swarms with inhabitants.
