Anyone have an older SCSI UMAX flatbed scanner? I'm wanting to get the Mac version of VistaScan 3.55S.
Currently the only UMAX FTP up and running is ftp.umax.com.tw and their copy of that software is corrupted. I downloaded it three times and had a friend (with cable in a different city) try it too and all four times the 80+ megabyte HQX file was buggered in exactly the same place. (Opened it in a text editor to look.) I have a couple older versions of the software but I want to see if 3.55S Mac will work. "Officially" the Windows version doesn't support the S6E but it works 100% perfect. :) Right now I have my Vista S6E running on my PC with the Windows version of VistaScan 3.55S and it works great! Way faster than my parallel port Mustek 600 III EP Plus. The UMAX appears to have a real good focal depth too so 3D objects scan with every bit in focus. Usually the thicker the scanner, the better the depth of field.
