I said in my original post that I tried Diskeeper
Workstation and didn't like it because A. it didn't
consolidate free space B. it left files fragmented
C. didn't optimize the folders and directory D. didn't
move the swap file to the front of the drive and E.
IT IS FRACKING SLOWER THAN A FROZEN TREE SLOTH!

Oh and F. Diskeeper Workstation has no options to make
it do the opposite of any of the above.

I used to run Win 98SE on this very same Athlon 700
box and Norton Utilities 2000. Speed Disk was FAST
and it did all the things Diskeeper Workstation can't.
(Mostly those were the default settings.)

Speed Disk in Norton Utilities 2002 suffers from all
the same defects as Diskeeper Workstation except
for it does consolidate the free space of the drive,
except for leaving bits of the directory scattered
all over it. :P

I'm running FAT32 on both my drives. Didn't see any
advantage to switching to NTFS on a 15gig and a 20gig.

It may be just me, but I find it highly odd when a
"new, improved" version of a program does _less_
than a previous version and what it does it does
_worse_.

So, if there is nothing other than Diskeeper, "Speed"
Disk, or the defragmenter that comes with XP, what
company is going to seize the opportunity to make
a utility at least as good as prior versions of
Speed Disk, except make it work on 2000/XP too?
