Thought I'd share the results of an afternoon's tinkering with you all... I bought an Epson Stylus Photo EX a couple of years ago to output a massive load of work for my Architecture post-grad Diploma, and it did that admirably. Happily it was a month or so after I handed in my portfolio that problems developed... The carriage would skip half a page's width, accompanied by unhealthy noises, the likes of which I've only heard before when a bit of gear selector fell into the gearbox of my Honda XL185s motorbike, with the result of total demise of bike. The printer worked intermittently until recently I could not get it to work properly at all, merely growling and clattering and spraying ink everywhere. I assumed worn gears and prepared to bin the printer- a shame as it has produced some beautiful prints. A very extensive web search finally gave me a clue- tranverse beam (on which the carriage runs) lubrication. A few drops of sewing-machine oil appears to have miraculously healed the printer... so there. Does anyone know what lubricant an Epson tech would use and how applied? regards M. -- Mac UK is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Mac UK list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/mac-uk.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-uk%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
