Hi all

Had my 7300/200 go pear-shaped on me last night. Got the chimes when I
started up, but it didn't even get as far as a happy Mac face. Hard disk
started spinning then stopped, and I just got a blank screen with a cursor
on it. I tried zapping the PRAM, but that didn't seem to make any difference
(I'd put a new PRAM battery in a couple of days before).

It was working fine the day before.

Possible cause: I'd disconnected my ageing Motorola 28.8 modem, and put on a
Pace Solo 56k one I'd got off eBay. It did come with a USB adaptor, but as
the 7300 hasn't got a USB port, and the modem came with a nine-pin to serial
cable I just connected that and fired it up. Once I sussed out that this
might have caused the problem, I disconnected it and fixed the 28.8 back in
place, but with no further joy in getting the fella going.

Any ideas?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Russ on the south coast (and going on hols tomorrow!)
