That's true of the older iMac's, but I believe that Darren is referring to the new 'Pixar lamp' style iMac's. Today, the iMac and the eMac both sport G4 chips in them. I've heard the same thing about the eMac's screen being somewhat dodgy, but only from one other source. It really would be worth your while to check it out for yourself, if possible, as only you will be the best judge of whether its worth your time and money.
Another thing I've heard regarding the eMac's is they make one hell of a racket. Very loud machines. The new iMac on the other hand is supposedly very quiet. One thing the eMac does have that is good, are the two speakers, which are apparently much much better quality than those that shipped In the old style iMac's i.e. Not the flat panel one's. Now from what I've seen, the eMac looks to be a very elegant computer. I don't think its huge or bulbous, but if you have the chance to choose between the two, I really would steer toward the iMac. Although the lack of speakers may be a bit mean, you may find it worth your while to save up some cash and get a set of speakers further on down the line. I may be only talking about the aesthetic merit of the machine here, but when you've got the opportunity to choose something as beautiful as the latest iMac, I'd just go for it and be very very happy thereafter. For the record, I have one of the older style iMac's and purchased afterward the Harmon Kardon iSub subwoofer, which looks like a huge seethrough plastic jellyfish! Its great and thumps through the floor with its bass. There's some great speakers available for the new iMac, available direct from Apple, I'd check them out sometime if I were you, because they're also funky as hell. -- Mac UK is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Mac UK list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/mac-uk.shtml> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-uk%40mail.maclaunch.com/> --------------------------------------------------------------- >The Think Different Store http://www.ThinkDifferentStore.com ---------------------------------------------------------------
