This should make John Abraham feel better: we have a Performa 630CD which
was given to us & was adopted by my wife who, like me, objects to all things
Microsoft & Intel, leaving me the PC (AMD & Linux). She then decided that
there wasn't enough space for a desktop machine in her work room & so we got
a Power Mac 8500 from eBay & the Performa (which has had several cheap mods)
came downstairs to me again. Both Macs run 8.1, the earliest OS supported
by Freeserve. The 8500 has an old Digital PC monitor, the PC uses the Apple
Multiple Scan 15" which came with the Performa (please don't ask!) As we're
retired cash is a consideration so we've always got to be careful & upgrades
are a "committee decision": whose machine & what to do? So, no new 17"
laptops here, then! Macs are great fun & we're happy with ours, although we
wouldn't mind a Power Book for e-mails whenever we're away......
