I tried this question on the G3 list but got no help - perhaps you're more
knowledgeable?

Sorry, Russell - I saw your original post on the G list, but thought someone with more experience and expertise would reply.

I recently set up my Beige G3 DT to play DVD movies. It's fine most of the
time but I've had a couple of crashes. Is it likely to be a software or
hardware problem? Would a better DVD drive solve the problem?

I have exactly the same setup as you - including sonnet, radeon and (ebayed) DVD drive. I run OSX, not OS9 and my Sonnet zif is a G4 - is yours the G3?

Only time I've ever encountered any probs with DVD was with one particular DVD (Straight Story) which would play for a while, then run very slow, then stop. This problem was not replicable with any other DVD so I assumed it was a fault on the disc.

What are your symptoms?

Andrew
