I've had all sorts of weirdness with this iBook today. Having attempted PMU
reset - the book now powers up but insists on still flashing the floppy
icon. There are quiet sounds of whirrrr-whir as it sounds like it is
attempting to power up the HDD. The drive spin is eratic.

Apparently the book died originally when mate of mate attempted to play/boot
a win compatible CD-Rom. Whether it was a PC written CD or a purchased one -
it seems like it locked and died. I have had a similar thing happen with a
CDR in iTunes on 10.1.5 DV400iMac - I lost the NetInfo settings in that
case.

The iBook is a 500 Snow which is around 2 1/2 years old. I know it had been
left uncharged for a week or so so could this stuborness be due to flat
internal battery?

The mac doesnt respond to any keyboard shortcuts although I did manage to
reset PRAM.

All very strange.

Any help appreciated.
