Thanks also to John for a similar comment.

Given this information the following phrase on the equipment sheet now makes
more sense.

"USB connection is supported only on computers shipped with a USB connector
as standard equipment"

Is this a long winded way of saying the equipment needs more power than a
card can supply?

Is there any problem in plugging the USB output from the card into a powered
hub?

Any recommendations for a source in the UK that can supply a suitable
powered hub at a keen price?
