OK, somebody else must have seen this problem before... I've just started using iChat (not AV) to talk to an ex-workmate and when he goes on-line I get the notification message in the top-right hand corner of my machine for a few seconds. But isn't the name in the buddy list supposed to stop being 'greyed-out'? Mine never changes, so if I miss the notification and come into the room my buddy list always indicates that he's not on-line.
This is OS X 10.2.6 on a CRT iMac, connected to ADSL through a NetGear ADSL router (DG834). Could it be a firewall issue? I checked the Apple Knowledge database and made sure that the necessary ports were open, but no such luck. Or could the problem be at my buddy's end?
