The first thought is that you can only rarely use a MacOS 9 boot disk from
one system in another one the architecture of most of the systems is
different, and each MacOS 9 system gets built with the appropriate
components when you install it. This involves both sometimes having subtly
different extensions and also the modules that get built into the actual
System file when you carry out the installation. You can try doing a
reinstall of the OS from a MacOS9 install disk over the top, but this may
not work. A clean install would be best.

One final thing are you using a late enough version of MacOS 9 for the G4?
This wont be a problem except with the very last of the QuickSilver G4s,
and I guess that it will be an earlier model than that, but its one thing
to mention. The very last QuickSilvers, and any MDD (Mirrored Drive Door)
models that can run MacOS 9 needed 9.2.2

Subject: Internet connection failure

1 iMac, 1 B&W and 1 G4 were networked together through a "Net Gear" router
and connected to the internet via DHCP.
Everything was working fine except the B&W developed a motherboard fault.
The client bought a new G4 (DA) and wanted the hard disc from the B&W used
as the boot disc in the new G4 so that all his settings/prefs/software stay
the same.
Everything worked fine except the G4 couldn't connect to the internet. File
sharing worked ok all the other Macs could be seen and communicated with.
Both of the other Macs could connect to the internet.
All run 9.2 and use Netscape 7 for internet/mail.
One of the LEDs on the router was flickering orange instead of green but it
was doing that before the G4 came online (it's also the port that the iMac
is plugged into).
Any suggestions?
