Amiga emulation on the mac really is piss poor atm unfortunately, afaik theres a version of MacUAE but it doesn't have JIT so it's real slow.
Yup. Asa far as Classic OS goes you stuck with MacUAE and it's a dog.
I have successfully used the Unix version of UAE in OS X 10.3 using FINK and the X11 for Mac OS X but it takes a bit of doing, but it is faster. I don't think the JIT is working in Darwin yet though.
I'm using WinUAE here with AmigaOS 3.9 and it's fantastic.
Ditto, and it's reasonably fast, especially using Picasso96 modes.
Infact you would probably get better performance using a PC emulator on your mac then running WinUAE
Very unlikely. Virtual PC is the only viable option anfd it's not the fastest at Windows, never mind and emulator *in* Windows.
There's no substitute for the real thign tho. I take great care of my A1200 and am planning to tower it if I can find a good priced ZorroIV Busboard.
On the other hand you could go and get an Amiga One G4 and wait for OS4, or become a beta tester...
400-ish a board (G4-800 XE) if you import them from overseas. A good friend of mine just bought one.
