Try before you buy at a high street retailer - my favourite would be John Lewis. Personally I agree with you, but my wife is going to buy a 14" iBook in the summer, and her eyesight isn't especially bad. Her reason? Well, she's had a Pismo for quite a while and she's simply got used to, and is happy with, the 14" form factor.
