Hi Kevin,
are you also saying that your card does not see the external HD ?. If so the following listing I posted on the G-List may help you. It resolved Vicky's and my problems.

Hi G-Listers,
I have followed with interest the listings regarding compatibility with USB cards and 9.2.2.
I have a Wallstreet with a Belkin 2 port PCMCIA card fitted. This refused to identify anything attached or be identified in Apple System Profiler. I found out that there is a compatibility problem with extensions loaded with OS 9.2.2 upgrade and OS 9.2.2 full install. I found a set of extensions that a previous person had found resolved his problem. I downloaded these and removed the other extensions to a temporary folder (just in case) then installed the new ones (different versions) and all worked OK.
Here is the URL for the download: http://eshop.macsales.com/tech/ftp/usb/usbextensions.sit
And this is where I found the original info: http://www.macintouch.com/mos9usb.html
Hope this is some help

The factory hard drive on my 1999 Lombard G3 Powerbook is failing - any specific recommendations for a replacement and a UK supplier? So far I've sourced three - Toshiba's MK2023 GAS and IBM/Hitachi's Travelstar 80GN and 5k80. Are any of these compatible with my Powerbook and can anyone recommend a drive? (only the 80GN appears to be stated as "Mac" compatible, the others say "PC"). I have a 7200 rpm Lacie external firewire drive connected through a PCMIA card but I can't get the Powerbook to boot from this - maybe the PCMIA card needs an extension to load before the Mac "sees" it (OS 9.2.2). Any thoughts please? Thanks!!!
Kevin
