Sorry, my 'send' responses are quicker than my brain sometimes... You don't *need* a router, you can follow Rogers advice and connect directly to the modem by Ethernet and that would work. I personally won't recommend this set-up though as it is not as secure as using a router with NAT and firewall built in. It also allows for several expansion options for the future. (but I tend to be paranoid). Without the router issues, are your settings set to DHCP on the ABS and on the PB? Hope this clarifies my earlier post.
