OK, OK, I know this is a Mac list and I don't have any virus problems on my Macs, but I DO have a repeating Trojan Horse problem on our home PC - something called PSW.Briss located in a file in IE5 Temporary Internet Files.

I've got AVG 6.0 (free version) anti-virus, which is always updated with the latest virus definitions, plus Zone Alarm (free home version) configured, yet still this thing won't go away.

Here's what's happened so far:

AVG detects it, asks if I want to access the file. I click No or Heal, and the PC then freezes.
I restart in Safe Mode, use Windows Explorer to get to the relevant folder and delete the executable file (usually located in an application called bombmp3.exe). Empty Recycle Bin, and run AVG - which usually runs and finds nothing.
Restart normally. PC is OK for a day or so, then up pops the Trojan again.

So three questions:

1 How can I get shot of this thing more permanently?
2 What extra do I need to do to guard against it in future?
3 Any clues as to how it got in in the first place?

Be glad of any help, or direction to appropriate sites.

Thanks

Russ

PS I'm in Worthing, so up for any Sussex meets!
