While I never had that particular problem, I did find that if I booted my g4/400+radeon either disconnected from my monitor or connected via a KVM switch, it would change from the resolution/refresh rate I'd set it to to one that my monitor didn't support - not quite as annoying but heading that way..

Yes, that used to happen as well....
