I noticed they threw an old (plastic) G4 off the balcony. Presumably
their budget couldn't stretch to trashing the G5.

Either that or they tried the G5 and it dented the tarmac. ;-)

Yeh, it did seem a rather unfair comparison.

Definately, note that the PC was a custom jobby _costing_ the same whereas the G5 was just an off-the-shelf. And having already established that PC's were cheaper, they _must have known_ that it was an unfair test. They needed an off-the-shelf PC with a similar spec to make it fair...we all know that the G5 would have wiped the floor with the PC and then some, but you should expect things like that when you run a fair test.

I wonder if Macuser could
repeat the tests more accurately, especially if they don't use a
discontinued Mac, dropped "off a bridge".

They should! You'd have all the PC users claiming it was unfair simply because the title of the magazine is "Macuser". Then again, anyone wonder where the money for the G5, G4, iMac, eMac, Custom PC, PC the newbie tried to set up then the PC they lobbed off the balcony and the PC in the competition? Its not like they have TV License money to throw about, they're independent. Then when you see the really hard question at the end...I wonder who sponsored this little test? ;-)

As for the competition at the end, I want to win a G5 ! Saying that a new P4
would come in handy.

Yeah!, It sure would! The lock on the spring-back on my door is broken and I need something to hold it open!

:-D
