Does it flick sometimes in use and then return to normal? I have encountered
several of these monitors with such symptoms. I'm told that it's often a
voltage regulator or that area that's on the blink.

I have a good friend who is a tv repairman of many years standing who has
repaired several for me for not great sums. In his opinion the nature and
shape of the casing makes the monitor run very hot.

Suggest you find a competant tv repairman to have a look at it.

(It amused me seeing an Apple monitor being used as a PC monitor during
testing after repair - "What a lovely image you get on these..." :-)
