I would be interested to know what people would currently recommend for domain hosting with modest space requirements for mostly mail and occasional file transfers. I have BT Connect hosting at the moment and though it is reasonably OK when it works that only seems to be about 50% of the time. I am paying for the BTConnect (OpenWorld) deal as part of my satellite contract anyway (it isn't optional) so i would prefer not to have another sizeable expense. I used to be with Talia but they went bad on me and before that it was Demon which was brilliant until they sold up. My most important criteria is spam and BTOW seems to leak very badly in this regard.

If you're looking at hosting a blog or other mysql based site, I can highly recommend

www.textdrive.com

They pre-install the Text Pattern CMS for you, but will support just about anything you want, including shell access to the server if you can justify it. Prices start at $5 per month (which works out about 2.90 per month through Paypal) for 100Mbs of storage. They seem to be in the business for all the rights reasons, and will try and accomodate anything you want to do. You have fully customisable procmail and spam assassin filtering too.
