Hi, Assuming you are running MacOS9, you probably have the latest firmware See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60384 The firmware update that knackers the Mac is for the slot loaders
Make sure you are installing OSX on a partition fully within the first 8GB of the drive if the hard drive has been upgraded.
